Set Calculator — Union, Intersection & Difference (Free)
Use this free set calculator to combine two sets. Type the elements of A and B and pick an operation — union, intersection, difference, or symmetric difference — and you’ll get the resulting set in proper notation, along with subset and disjoint checks.
How to use the set calculator
- Enter the elements of set A and set B, separated by commas.
- Choose an operation.
- Read the resulting set and the sizes, subset and disjoint information.
The set operations
Union (A ∪ B) collects everything in either set. Intersection (A ∩ B) keeps only what’s in both. Difference (A − B) keeps what’s in A but not B. Symmetric difference (A △ B) keeps what’s in exactly one of them.
Frequently asked questions
What is the union of two sets?
The set of all elements that appear in either set, with duplicates listed once. {1,2,3} ∪ {3,4} = {1,2,3,4}.
What is the intersection?
The set of elements common to both sets. {1,2,3} ∩ {3,4} = {3}.
What does subset mean?
A ⊆ B means every element of A is also in B. The calculator checks this for you.
