Motion and Stability: Forces and Interactions

  • Standard 1Forces, Motion, and InteractionsConduct investigations to explain the effects of balanced and unbalanced forces exerted on an object, varying the size, number, and direction of the forces
  • Standard 2Object'S Motion Provide Evidence Pattern Motion Used FutureObserve and measure an object's motion to provide evidence that a pattern of motion can be used to predict future motion
  • Standard 3Forces, Motion, and InteractionsConduct investigations to determine cause and effect relationships between objects not in contact with one another, including magnetic and electrostatic forces
  • Standard 4Magnets, Electricity, and CircuitsApply scientific ideas about magnetic interactions to solve a problem using the engineering design process

From Molecules to Organisms: Structures and Processes

  • Standard 5Organism Needs, Structures, and Life CyclesDevelop and use models to compare the diverse life cycles of organisms other than humans, including birth, growth, reproduction, and death

Heredity: Inheritance and Variation of Traits

  • Standard 6Organism Needs, Structures, and Life CyclesUse data to provide evidence that plants and animals have observable traits inherited from parents and that variations of these traits exist in groups of similar organisms
  • Standard 7Cells, Body Systems, and GeneticsUse evidence to support a claim that traits can be influenced by the environment

Unity and Diversity

  • Standard 8Organism Needs, Structures, and Life CyclesAnalyze and interpret data from fossils to provide evidence of the existence of organisms and information about the environments in which they lived
  • Standard 9Explanation Evidence Variations Characteristics Among Individuals Same SpeciesConstruct an explanation from evidence of how variations in characteristics among individuals of the same species may provide advantages in surviving, finding mates, and reproducing
  • Standard 10Organism Needs, Structures, and Life CyclesMake a claim from evidence that an organism's likelihood of survival depends upon access to sufficient resources in its habitat, including sunlight, air, water, food, and shelter
  • Standard 11Organism Needs, Structures, and Life CyclesConstruct explanations of how forming groups helps some organisms survive
  • Standard 12Organism Needs, Structures, and Life CyclesObtain and communicate information regarding the impact of existing solutions on plant and animal populations when environmental changes occur

Earth's Systems

  • Standard 13Data Analysis, Patterns, and Model LimitsRepresent data in tables or graphical displays to reveal typical weather patterns during a particular season
  • Standard 14Water Cycle, Weather, Climate, and AtmosphereUse information from a variety of sources to describe climates in different regions of the world

Earth and Human Activity

  • Standard 15Engineering Design and Solution EvaluationObtain and communicate information on the effectiveness of existing solutions designed to reduce the impact of weather-related hazards

Alabama Grade 3 Science FAQ

Does Alabama test science in grade 3?

No. Alabama gives ACAP Summative Science in grades 4, 6, and 8, so grade 3 students do not sit a state science test this year. The standards on this page are still the ones grade 3 teachers teach, and they are what the next science test builds on.

Which standards does grade 3 science in Alabama follow?

Alabama follows the Alabama Course of Study: Science, published by the Alabama State Department of Education. All 15 of this grade's standards are listed further down the page with their official codes.

How long are the practice tests?

Each of the six practice tests has 25 questions and a 45-minute timer. The timer auto-submits at zero and you get your score, a breakdown by science area, and a written explanation for every question.

Is any of this free?

Yes, every practice test, quiz, and flashcard set on this page is free and needs no login. Your progress is saved in your own browser and nowhere else.

What is the fastest way to use this page?

Take practice test 1 cold. Look at the topic breakdown, pick the weakest science area, and do that skill quiz. Then read the quick review for that area and come back for practice test 2.
