GACE Elementary Education Practice Center

Each practice form runs all five testlets end to end, twenty questions each. Score them separately, because that is how the real assessment works: you can register for one testlet at a time and retake only the ones you need. Knowing which two are weak is worth more here than on almost any other test.

GACE Elementary Education at a glance

Georgia rebuilt this assessment in 2025. It is no longer the two ETS subtests candidates used to take; it is a single assessment, code 702, delivered as five separate testlets that you register for individually and can sit on different days. Each testlet is about thirty selected-response questions and about a fifth of your total score, and you can retake a single testlet without redoing the rest. That structure is the most useful thing to know about it.

Test code 702 (Elementary Education, P-5), delivered by Evaluation Systems
Replaces The retired ETS assessment, tests 001 and 002 and combined code 501. Georgia moved GACE from ETS to Evaluation Systems on July 1, 2025; the last ETS registration was June 12, 2025 and the final ETS content window was June 15, 2025.
Does an old ETS pass still count? Georgia’s rule accepts an ETS content assessment taken in its entirety on or before June 30, 2025. A partly completed one does not carry over, and suppliers cannot be mixed within a single assessment. Check with the GaPSC about your own record.
Structure One assessment, five testlets, each registered separately: 001 English Language Arts, 002 Mathematics, 003 Social Studies, 004 Science, and 005 The Arts, Health, and Wellness. All five are required.
Number of questions About 30 selected-response questions per testlet. There is no constructed response.
Weighting Each testlet is about 20 percent of the total score. Testlets may be taken on different days and the scores combined.
Format Computer-delivered
Time limit Georgia does not publish a testing time for 702 or for its individual testlets. The practice forms here budget 150 minutes for all five testlets together, which is a practice figure rather than an official limit.
Passing score Georgia does not publish a numeric passing score or score scale for 702. GACE reports Induction and Professional levels; ask the GaPSC or your preparation programme what your programme requires.

Georgia publishes the testlet structure and the within-testlet objective weights, but not a total question count, a testing time, or a passing score for 702. Anything you find online stating those numbers is a third-party estimate. What is documented: five testlets, about thirty questions each, about twenty percent of the score each, and within English Language Arts the two objectives split fifty-fifty while the other four testlets split their objectives evenly in thirds.

The five testlets, in plain language

Each testlet is registered and scored on its own. Here is what each one asks of you.

Testlet 001: English language arts (about 20 percent)

How reading and writing develop, and how a teacher supports and assesses them.

  • Oral language, phonological awareness, and phonics
  • Fluency, vocabulary, and comprehension
  • Reading literary and informational text
  • Writing development, process, and conventions
  • Assessing reading and responding to what the assessment shows

Testlet 002: Mathematics (about 20 percent)

Elementary mathematics and how children come to understand it.

  • Counting, cardinality, and place value
  • Operations, their properties, and fact strategies
  • Fractions and equivalence
  • Measurement, data, and geometry
  • Early algebraic thinking
  • How children develop mathematical ideas

Testlet 003: Social studies (about 20 percent)

History, geography, civics, and economics at elementary level.

  • United States history and its major eras
  • Geography, maps, and human and physical systems
  • Civics, government, and citizenship
  • Economics and economic reasoning
  • Reading a map, a timeline, and a primary source

Testlet 004: Science (about 20 percent)

Elementary science content and the practices of investigation.

  • Science and engineering practices and investigation design
  • Physical science: matter, energy, force, and motion
  • Life science: organisms, ecosystems, and heredity
  • Earth and space science: rocks, weather, water, and the solar system
  • Safety in an elementary science lesson

Testlet 005: The arts, health, and wellness (about 20 percent)

The four arts disciplines together with health and physical development.

  • The elements of visual art, music, dance, and drama
  • Children’s artistic development
  • Motor development and fundamental movement skills
  • Fitness, nutrition, and personal health
  • Safety and social and emotional wellbeing

A study routine built around five separate testlets

The testlet structure changes how you should study. You are not preparing for one four-hour day; you are preparing for five short tests you can take on five different days, in whatever order you like. Use that.

DiagnoseTake Practice Test 1 in one sitting, then score each testlet block separately. Rank the five worst to best.
Book your strongest testlet firstThere is a real advantage to passing one early. It narrows what is left and it tells you how the format feels before it matters.
Work the weakest two properlyEach is only about a fifth of your score, so a weak testlet is a contained problem. Give it a focused fortnight rather than spreading the time across all five.
Run the deck for the arts and health testletIt is largely vocabulary recall and it rewards flashcards more than reading.
Prove itTake Practice Test 2 and check that no testlet has slipped while you were working on another.

Before test day

Two things about this assessment are worth holding on to. First, the testlets are independent, so a bad day costs you one fifth of the assessment rather than all of it, and you retake only that piece. Second, Georgia does not publish a testing time or a passing score for 702, so treat any specific number you read elsewhere as somebody’s estimate and confirm what you need with the GaPSC or your programme.
