PS Physical Science

  • 7-PS1-1Particles, Atoms, Elements, and CompoundsDevelop models to describe the atomic composition of simple molecules and extended structures
  • 7-PS1-2Material Properties and UsesAnalyze and interpret data on the properties of substances before and after the substances interact to determine if a chemical reaction has occurred
  • 7-PS1-3Material Properties and UsesGather and make sense of information to describe that synthetic materials come from natural resources and impact society
  • 7-PS1-5Particles, Atoms, Elements, and CompoundsDevelop and use a model to describe how the total number of atoms does not change in a chemical reaction and thus mass is conserved
  • 7-PS1-6Chemical and Physical ChangesUndertake a design project to construct, test, and modify a device that either releases or absorbs thermal energy by chemical processes
  • 7-PS3-1Scientific Tools, Measurement, and Data DisplaysConstruct and interpret graphical displays of data to describe the proportional relationships of kinetic energy to the mass of an object and to the speed of an object
  • 7-PS3-2Gravity and Object MotionDevelop a model to describe that when the arrangement of objects interacting at a distance changes, different amounts of potential energy are stored in the system
  • 7-PS3-5Energy Forms, Transfer, and TransformationConstruct, use, and present arguments to support the claim that when the kinetic energy of an object changes, energy is transferred to or from the object

LS Life Science

  • 7-LS1-6Organism Needs, Structures, and Life CyclesConstruct a scientific explanation based on evidence for the role of photosynthesis in the cycling of matter and flow of energy into and out of organisms
  • 7-LS1-7Organism Needs, Structures, and Life CyclesDevelop a model to describe how food molecules in plants and animals are rearranged through chemical reactions forming new molecules that support growth and/or release energy as this matter moves through an organism
  • 7-LS2-1Organism Needs, Structures, and Life CyclesAnalyze and interpret data to provide evidence for the effects of resource availability on organisms and populations of organisms in an ecosystem
  • 7-LS2-2Organism Needs, Structures, and Life CyclesConstruct an explanation that predicts patterns of interactions among organisms across multiple ecosystems
  • 7-LS2-3Ecosystems, Food Webs, and Matter FlowDevelop a model to describe the cycling of matter and flow of energy among living and nonliving parts of an ecosystem
  • 7-LS2-4Ecosystems, Food Webs, and Matter FlowConstruct an argument supported by empirical evidence that changes to physical or biological components of an ecosystem affect populations
  • 7-LS2-5Competing Solutions Maintaining Biodiversity Ecosystem Services Coral ReefEvaluate competing design solutions for maintaining biodiversity and ecosystem services

ESS Earth and Space Science

  • 7-ESS3-1Natural Resources and Human ImpactsConstruct a scientific explanation based on evidence for how the uneven distributions of Earth's mineral, energy, and groundwater resources are the result of past and current geoscience processes
  • 7-ESS3-3Natural Resources and Human ImpactsApply scientific principles to design a method for monitoring and minimizing a human impact on the environment
  • 7-ESS3-4Natural Resources and Human ImpactsConstruct an argument supported by evidence for how increases in human population and per-capita consumption of natural resources impact Earth's systems
  • 7-ESS3-5Natural Resources and Human ImpactsAsk questions to clarify evidence of the factors that have impacted global temperatures over the past century

South Carolina Grade 7 Science FAQ

Does South Carolina test science in grade 7?

No. South Carolina gives SCPASS Science in grades 4 and 6, so grade 7 students do not sit a state science test this year. South Carolina also gives a high school biology test. The standards on this page are still the ones grade 7 teachers teach, and they are what the next science test builds on.

Which standards does grade 7 science in South Carolina follow?

South Carolina follows the South Carolina College- and Career-Ready Science Standards, published by the South Carolina Department of Education. All 19 of this grade's standards are listed further down the page with their official codes.

How long are the practice tests?

Each of the six practice tests has 40 questions and a 70-minute timer. The timer auto-submits at zero and you get your score, a breakdown by science area, and a written explanation for every question.

Is any of this free?

Yes, every practice test, quiz, and flashcard set on this page is free and needs no login. Your progress is saved in your own browser and nowhere else.

What is the fastest way to use this page?

Take practice test 1 cold. Look at the topic breakdown, pick the weakest science area, and do that skill quiz. Then read the quick review for that area and come back for practice test 2.
