PS Physical Science
- MS-PS4-1Light, Sound, and Wave BehaviorUse mathematical representations to describe a simple model for waves that includes how the amplitude of a wave is related to the energy in a wave
- MS-PS4-2Material Properties and UsesDevelop and use a model to describe that waves are reflected, absorbed, or transmitted through various materials
- MS-PS4-3Integrate Qualitative Scientific Technical Information Claim Digitized SignalsIntegrate qualitative scientific and technical information to support the claim that digitized signals are a more reliable way to encode and transmit information than analog signals
LS Life Science
- MS-LS1-6Organism Needs, Structures, and Life CyclesConstruct a scientific explanation based on evidence for the role of photosynthesis in the cycling of matter and flow of energy into and out of organisms
- MS-LS2-1Organism Needs, Structures, and Life CyclesAnalyze and interpret data to provide evidence for the effects of resource availability on organisms and populations of organisms in an ecosystem
- MS-LS2-2Organism Needs, Structures, and Life CyclesConstruct an explanation that predicts patterns of interactions among organisms across multiple ecosystems
- MS-LS2-3Ecosystems, Food Webs, and Matter FlowDevelop a model to describe the cycling of matter and flow of energy among living and nonliving parts of an ecosystem
- MS-LS2-4Ecosystems, Food Webs, and Matter FlowConstruct an argument supported by empirical evidence that changes to physical or biological components of an ecosystem affect populations
- MS-LS2-5Competing Solutions Maintaining Biodiversity Ecosystem Services Coral ReefEvaluate competing design solutions for maintaining biodiversity and ecosystem services
ESS Earth and Space Science
- MS-ESS1-1Sun, Moon, Earth, Stars, and Space SystemsDevelop and use a model of the Earth-sun-moon system to describe the cyclic patterns of lunar phases, eclipses of the sun and moon, and seasons
- MS-ESS1-2Sun, Moon, Earth, Stars, and Space SystemsDevelop and use a model to describe the role of gravity in the motions within galaxies and the solar system
- MS-ESS1-3Sun, Moon, Earth, Stars, and Space SystemsAnalyze and interpret data to determine scale properties of objects in the solar system
ETS Engineering, Technology and Applications of Science
- MS-ETS1-1Engineering Design and Solution EvaluationDefine the criteria and constraints of a design problem with sufficient precision to ensure a successful solution, taking into account relevant scientific principles and potential impacts on people and the natural environment that may limit possible solutions
- MS-ETS1-2Engineering Design and Solution EvaluationEvaluate competing design solutions using a systematic process to determine how well they meet the criteria and constraints of the problem
- MS-ETS1-3Engineering Design and Solution EvaluationAnalyze data from tests to determine similarities and differences among several design solutions to identify the best characteristics of each that can be combined into a new solution to better meet the criteria for success
- MS-ETS1-4Engineering Design and Solution EvaluationDevelop a model to generate data for iterative testing and modification of a proposed object, tool, or process such that an optimal design can be achieved

Does Indiana test science in grade 6?
Yes. Indiana students take ILEARN Science in grade 6. ILEARN Science is administered at grades 4 and 6 (not grade 5 or 7). Grade 6 covers Indiana's 6th-grade standards which emphasize Earth/Space (universe, solar system), matter, forces, and cells.
Which standards does grade 6 science in Indiana follow?
Indiana follows the Indiana Academic Standards: Science and K-8 Computer Science, published by the Indiana Department of Education. All 16 of this grade's standards are listed further down the page with their official codes.
How long are the practice tests?
Each of the six practice tests has 40 questions and a 70-minute timer. The timer auto-submits at zero and you get your score, a breakdown by science area, and a written explanation for every question.
Is any of this free?
Yes, every practice test, quiz, and flashcard set on this page is free and needs no login. Your progress is saved in your own browser and nowhere else.
What is the fastest way to use this page?
Take practice test 1 cold. Look at the topic breakdown, pick the weakest science area, and do that skill quiz. Then read the quick review for that area and come back for practice test 2.
