# How to Prepare for the SIFT Math Test?

The Selection Instrument for Flight Training (known as SIFT) is used to select applicants for an Army Aviation career.

The SIFT test is a multiple-aptitude battery that measures developed abilities and helps predict future academic and occupational success in the military.

You can only take the SIFT test twice in your lifetime. The SIFT was introduced to replace the older AFAST test.

The SIFT is a multiple-aptitude battery that measures developed abilities and helps predict future academic and occupational success in the military.

The SIFT is a multiple-choice test that consists of 7 subtests.

- Section 1 – Simple Drawings (SD)
- Section 2 – Hidden Figures (HF)
- Section 3 – Army Aviation Information Test (AAIT)
- Section 4 – Spatial Apperception Test (SAT)
- Section 5 – Reading Comprehension Test (RCT)
- Section 6 – Math Skills Test (MST)
- Section 7 – Mechanical Comprehension Test (MCT)

The first 5 sections of the SIFT (SD, HF, AAIT, SAT, RCT) have a fixed number of questions that must be answered within a fixed time.

The last 2 SIFT sections (MST and MCT) are computer-adaptive. It means that if the correct answer is chosen, the next question will be harder. If the answer given is incorrect, the next question will be easier. This also means that once an answer is selected on the CAT it cannot be changed.

There are about 30 to 40 Math questions on SIFT and you cannot use a calculator, but a few formulas are provided for some questions.
