Slope-intercept form is the linear equation form y = mx + b.

In this form, m is the slope and b is the y-intercept.

Also called: y equals mx plus b

Examples

y = 2x + 5 has slope 2 and y-intercept 5
y = -3x + 1 is in slope-intercept form
The graph is a line

Common mistake

The number beside x is the slope; the constant is the y-intercept.
