What is ASVAB?

ASVAB means Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery. It is a set of tests, set up by the United States Military Entrance Processing Command.

The ASVAB test can be written by any eligible candidate but the majority of people who take the test are U.S. high school students in grades 10th, 11th, and 12th.

The ASVAB test is very significant and used to decide the qualification for enlistment in the U.S. Army.

The test was introduced into the US Military System in 1968 but was embraced by all branches of the military in 1976.  

The test is purely based on calculations which include Arithmetic and Mathematics.

ASVAB Test Requirements

Although the ASVAB test is brain-twisting, with the right preparation you will be able to pass it.

Each military branch has got its cut-off mark. For the Army, it is any score above 31 while for the Air Force, it is above 36. This implies that a standard score of 50 is an average score while a score of 60 is above average.

The Types and Duration of the ASVAB Test

The ASVAB Arithmetic and Mathematics preview is of two types. The first is the written format while the other one is the computerized format.

The testing procedure varies depending on the mode of administration.

The test currently contains 9 sections and takes three hours to complete. Although the duration of each test varies from 7 to 39 minutes.
