Inequality

An inequality compares values using symbols such as <, >, <=, or >=.

What it means

Instead of saying two expressions are equal, an inequality says one is greater, less, or at least/at most another.

Also called: comparison statement

Examples

x > 5
3y <= 12
-2 < 4

Common mistake

When multiplying or dividing by a negative number, reverse the inequality sign.
