Integer

An integer is a whole number, its opposite, or zero.

What it means

Integers include numbers like -4, -1, 0, 3, and 12. They do not include fractions or decimals.

Also called: whole-number positives and negatives

Examples

-7 is an integer
0 is an integer
4.5 is not an integer

Common mistake

A negative number can still be an integer. The word integer does not mean positive only.
