Probability Calculator (Free)
Use this free probability calculator to find the chance of an event. Compute a single event’s probability and its complement, or combine two independent events with the AND, OR, and neither rules.
How to use it
- Pick a mode: a single event, or two independent events.
- Enter the outcomes or probabilities.
- Read the probability as a fraction, decimal, and percent.
The rules
Single event: P = favorable / total. Two independent events: P(A and B) = P(A)·P(B); P(A or B) = P(A) + P(B) − P(A)·P(B).
Frequently asked questions
How do you find the probability of an event?
Divide the number of favorable outcomes by the total number of possible outcomes.
What is the complement of an event?
The chance it does NOT happen: P(not A) = 1 − P(A).
How do you combine two independent events?
Multiply for ‘and’ (both happen); use P(A)+P(B)−P(A)P(B) for ‘or’ (at least one happens).
