MEET THE EXAM
Start with the current CPA AUD format.
Check AICPA and your jurisdiction for current policies.
The January 1, 2026 AICPA blueprint organizes AUD content into four weighted areas. The published percentage ranges are minimum-to-maximum score weights; they are not exact question quotas. The blueprint also describes tested skills and sample task statements.
This page is a study-planning resource for AUD. The existing CPA practice center currently covers FAR; it does not represent an AUD practice form or the full CPA Exam. Official content, testing policies, scoring, and licensure rules come from AICPA, NASBA, and the relevant jurisdiction.
STUDY THE 2026 BLUEPRINT
Build skill across all four AUD content areas.
Use the official ranges to allocate review time, then study the task statements.
Ethics, Professional Responsibilities, and General Principles
Review independence, professional conduct, engagement terms, quality management, professional judgment and skepticism, and the auditor’s responsibilities under applicable standards.
Assessing Risk and Developing a Planned Response
Connect the entity and its environment to material misstatement risks. Practice planning, materiality, internal control understanding, fraud considerations, and designing responses that address assessed risks.
Performing Further Procedures and Obtaining Evidence
Select procedures that produce relevant, reliable evidence. Review tests of controls and details, substantive analytics, sampling, estimates, confirmations, audit documentation, and service-organization considerations.
Forming Conclusions and Reporting
Evaluate whether evidence is sufficient and appropriate, resolve misstatements and reporting issues, and select or modify the report that fits the engagement facts and applicable requirements.
These are AICPA blueprint percentage ranges for the AUD section. Study the complete 2026 blueprint for detailed Area, Group, Topic, and representative task statements.
A SIMPLE STUDY ROUTE
Move from risk assessment to a supported conclusion.
Use practice results to choose your next review target.
- 01
Map the blueprint. Read the four AUD areas and sample task statements. Mark each as confident, developing, or unfamiliar, then plan study time around both the published ranges and your gaps.
- 02
Build the audit logic. For each scenario, identify the assertion or objective, relevant risk, and evidence needed before choosing a procedure.
- 03
Practice connected cases. Work from planning through testing and evaluation. Track whether each procedure addresses the risk and whether the resulting evidence supports the conclusion.
- 04
Review reporting decisions. Explain how uncorrected misstatements, scope limits, subsequent events, or other engagement facts affect the conclusion and report. Confirm standard updates against AICPA’s current pronouncement policy.
- 05
Finish with timed mixed practice. Revisit weak tasks, review every rationale, and keep MCQ practice distinct from task-based simulation work. Practice feedback is for learning; it is not an official score prediction.

QUICK ANSWERS
CPA AUD preparation questions.
How many questions are in CPA AUD?
The 2026 AICPA blueprint lists 78 multiple-choice questions and seven task-based simulations across five testlets: 39, 39, 2, 3, and 2. AICPA may revise exam guidance, so check its current materials before your appointment.
How long is the AUD section?
Each CPA Exam section is four hours. Exam-center procedures and any optional break may add appointment time; check current AICPA and NASBA candidate instructions.
What are the four AUD blueprint areas?
Ethics, Professional Responsibilities, and General Principles (15–25%); Assessing Risk and Developing a Planned Response (25–35%); Performing Further Procedures and Obtaining Evidence (30–40%); and Forming Conclusions and Reporting (10–20%). The ranges are blueprint score weights, not fixed question counts.
Is AUD the full CPA Exam?
No. AUD is one of three Core sections. Candidates also take FAR and REG and choose one Discipline section—BAR, ISC, or TCP—subject to current exam and jurisdiction requirements.
Is the Mometrix CPA guide current?
Mometrix says its CPA products have not been updated for the 2024 exam redesign and still describes legacy BEC coverage. Use its material only as supplemental review and follow the current AICPA blueprint for AUD content and format.
Does this page offer an AUD practice test?
No AUD practice form is offered on this page. The existing CPA practice center covers FAR. Use the official AICPA resources linked above to review the current AUD blueprint and sample materials.
Does practice performance here predict the AICPA score?
No. Study checks and provider practice feedback do not reproduce AICPA’s scoring process or predict a licensing outcome. Use them to find concepts that need further review.
Is this an official AICPA study center?
No. This is an independent study guide and is not affiliated with or endorsed by AICPA, NASBA, or any state board of accountancy. Those organizations control official exam specifications, registration, scoring, and licensing requirements.
