A passage describes a plan as ‘ambitious’ and then lists the funding, staff, and time it requires. What does ambitious most nearly mean here?
Show a strong response
Demanding or requiring substantial effort. Use the surrounding details. They show that the plan requires considerable resources; they do not say whether it will succeed.
Example 2
A writer gives two examples after stating a broad claim. What is the most likely purpose of those examples?
Show a strong response
To illustrate or support the claim. Check how the examples relate to the claim rather than choosing a more specific purpose the passage never supports.
