Series 7 Exam Study Center
Build a clear review plan around FINRA’s four current exam functions. Start with the 2025 outline, give the largest section the most attention, and keep the SIE co-requisite in view.
START WITH THE CURRENT OUTLINE
Series 7 at a glance
FINRA’s October 2025 outline organizes the Series 7 around four job functions. The test has 125 scored multiple-choice questions plus five unidentified pretest questions. Use your candidate instructions for appointment and eligibility details.
Weight matters. Function 3 is 73% of the scored exam (91 items). It deserves the largest share of your study time, while the other three functions still need regular review.

MAKE YOUR REVIEW PRACTICAL
A study plan you can adjust
Use your schedule and current results to set the pace. The outline’s weights can guide where you spend time, but your own missed concepts should guide what you review next.
Confirm the path
Check current FINRA candidate instructions and confirm how the Series 7 and SIE fit your registration plan.
Map your baseline
Mark each function green, yellow, or red based on what you can explain without notes.
Prioritize Function 3
Give the largest function the most practice time, while rotating through customer profiles, communications, and transaction processing.
Review the reason
For every missed practice item, write the rule or product idea behind the answer, then revisit that outline section.
Keep practice material separate from the official exam. FINRA says its exam includes a tutorial, permits no reference materials in the test session, and has no penalty for guessing. Follow your candidate instructions for the current administration.
