Distance, speed, and elapsed time — study worksheet

Name: ____________________ Date: ______________

This printable organizer accompanies the hub lesson. It is a guided study sheet, not a scored test or an official ASVAB question set.

1. Read the core idea

Distance equals rate multiplied by time when the rate is constant. Rearrange the relationship instead of memorizing three unrelated rules. Convert minutes to hours when the rate is per hour. For an average rate over a whole trip, divide total distance by total time; do not average speeds unless the time spent at each speed is equal.

2. Trace the worked example

At 48 miles per hour for 45 minutes, time is 3/4 hour. Distance is 48 × 3/4 = 36 miles.

Write the steps or relationships that explain the result:

3. Use the method

Write d = rt and convert the time first. Check whether the result is a distance, a rate, or a time.

Summarize the method in your own words, with a diagram or labeled units where useful:

4. Record a mistake to avoid

Forty-five minutes is 0.75 hour, not 0.45 hour.

Describe how you will recognize and correct this mistake:

5. Review after practice

Use the mixed practice check linked in the hub. Record the skill you need to revisit and your next study step.
