Ohm’s law and electrical power — study worksheet

Name: ____________________ Date: ______________

This printable organizer accompanies the hub lesson. It is a guided study sheet, not a scored test or an official ASVAB question set.

1. Read the core idea

For an ohmic component, V = IR connects voltage, current, and resistance. Rearrange the formula for the requested quantity, then substitute values in compatible units. Power describes energy transferred per unit time and can be calculated as P = VI in a basic DC circuit. A higher power rating does not mean a device always draws that amount in every configuration.

2. Trace the worked example

A 12 V source across a 6 Ω resistor gives I = 12/6 = 2 A. Electrical power is 12 × 2 = 24 W.

Write the steps or relationships that explain the result:

3. Use the method

Write the unknown and rearrange the relationship before inserting the numbers.

Summarize the method in your own words, with a diagram or labeled units where useful:

4. Record a mistake to avoid

Do not multiply voltage by resistance when solving for current.

Describe how you will recognize and correct this mistake:

5. Review after practice

Use the mixed practice check linked in the hub. Record the skill you need to revisit and your next study step.
