Distinctive features as anchors — study worksheet

Name: ____________________ Date: ______________

This printable organizer accompanies the hub lesson. It is a guided study sheet, not a scored test or an official ASVAB question set.

1. Read the core idea

Corners, holes, unequal edges, and curved boundaries can eliminate choices faster than repeated straight edges. First identify the most distinctive feature, then compare its position relative to a second feature. Keep scale and shape consistent. If the diagram includes marked connection points, preserve their identities and relationships rather than judging only the unmarked outline.

2. Trace the worked example

A piece with one hole near an acute corner must retain that relationship after turning. Moving the hole to the opposite corner changes the piece.

Write the steps or relationships that explain the result:

3. Use the method

Choose two anchors, describe their relationship, and use that relationship to reject a candidate.

Summarize the method in your own words, with a diagram or labeled units where useful:

4. Record a mistake to avoid

A similar-looking outline may hide a different location for an opening or marked point.

Describe how you will recognize and correct this mistake:

5. Review after practice

Use the mixed practice check linked in the hub. Record the skill you need to revisit and your next study step.
