CLEP Western Civilization II Practice Test 1
This practice test contains 100 original multiple-choice questions representative of the CLEP Western Civilization II examination, which covers European history from the Peace of Westphalia (1648) to the present. The official exam contains approximately 120 questions (including unscored pretest items) administered in 90 minutes, distributed across twelve content areas: Absolutism and Constitutionalism, 1648--1715 (7--9%); Competition for Empire and Economic Expansion (4--6%); the Scientific View of the World (5--7%); the Enlightenment (7--9%); Revolution and Napoleonic Europe (10--13%); the Industrial Revolution (7--9%); Political and Cultural Developments, 1815--1848 (6--8%); the Age of Nationalism, 1850--1914 (8--10%); Economy, Culture, and Imperialism, 1850--1914 (7--9%); the First World War and the Russian Revolution (10--12%); Europe Between the Wars (7--9%); and the Second World War and Contemporary Europe (8--10%). Each question offers five answer choices (A--E); select the single best answer. Pace yourself at approximately 45 seconds per question and leave time to review flagged items. Questions are grouped into scenarios that share a stimulus---a paraphrased source excerpt, a data table, a timeline, or a described map. Every excerpt is either original commentary written for this practice test or explicitly labeled as adapted/paraphrased from period arguments; no passage is presented as a verbatim historical document. These questions are independently created and are not official College Board questions.
