CLEP Spanish Language Practice Test 1

The official CLEP Spanish Language exam (Levels 1 and 2 combined into a single score) contains approximately 121 questions in about 90 minutes, each with four answer choices (A--D), delivered in three separately timed sections: Section I, Listening --- Rejoinders (15% of items), and Section II, Listening --- Dialogues and Narratives (25% of items), both built from audio recordings played once each; and Section III, Reading (60% of items), split into Part A Discrete Sentences (16%), Part B Cloze Passages (20%), and Part C Reading Passages and Authentic Materials (24%). Because this is a printed book, it cannot reproduce the exam's audio-based Listening sections; the listening skills they test (rejoinder recognition, register and formality cues, and dialogue/narrative comprehension) are covered in this book's companion Quick Review but are not retested here as static print items. This practice test instead offers a full-length, proportionally weighted set of 75 original multiple-choice items covering everything the exam tests in print form: Part A, 20 discrete-sentence items testing grammar and vocabulary in isolation; Part B, 3 cloze passages (25 items total, 8--9 numbered blanks each) testing grammar and vocabulary consistency across a connected text; and Part C, 6 reading passages and authentic documents (30 items total, 5 questions each) --- a market dialogue, a personal email, an event announcement, a newspaper article, an online discussion forum, and a literary narrative --- spanning beginner (Level 1) through advanced (Level 2) difficulty. Every passage is written entirely in original Spanish; read each one fully before answering its questions. Give yourself about 56 minutes for all 75 items (roughly 45 seconds per item), then check your answers against the key and read every explanation, even for items you answered correctly. This is an independently written practice test created for this book and is not an official College Board CLEP Spanish Language exam form.
