CLEP Humanities Practice Test 1
Answer all 100 questions in approximately 65 minutes, a proportional share of the official exam's 90-minute limit for its roughly 140 questions. Every question has one best answer chosen from five options (A--E). Many items are grouped in short sets beneath a labeled Scenario that presents an original description of a real work of literature, visual art, architecture, music, dance, or philosophy, identified by title, creator, and period; these descriptions and any illustrative passages are written specifically for this book and do not reproduce any copyrighted text, translation, or image. Coverage is proportioned across the exam's two main domains, Literature (drama, poetry, fiction, and nonfiction/philosophy, roughly 50% of items) and the Arts (visual arts, architecture, music, and film/dance, roughly 50% of items), and is fairly evenly divided among Classical Antiquity, the Medieval and Renaissance eras, the 17th--18th centuries, the 19th century, and the 20th--21st centuries, with attention to non-Western traditions woven throughout. This independently written practice test is not an official CLEP exam form and is not endorsed by or affiliated with the College Board.
