CLEP History of the United States II Practice Test 1

This practice test contains 90 original multiple-choice questions representative of the CLEP History of the United States II examination, which covers United States history from Reconstruction (1865) to the present. The official exam contains approximately 120 questions (including unscored pretest items) administered in 90 minutes, with roughly 30% of items drawn from 1865--1914 and 70% from 1915 to the present, distributed across political institutions and public policy, social developments, cultural and intellectual developments, economic developments, and diplomacy and international relations. Pace yourself at approximately 45 seconds per question (about 68 minutes for this 90-question set) and leave time to review flagged items. Each question offers five answer choices (A--E); select the single best answer. Questions are grouped into scenarios that share a stimulus---a paraphrased source excerpt, a data table, a timeline, a map, or a described political cartoon. Every excerpt is either original commentary written for this practice test or explicitly labeled as adapted/paraphrased from period arguments; no passage is presented as a verbatim historical document. These questions are independently created and are not official College Board questions.
