CLEP History of the United States I Practice Test 1
Answer all 90 questions in approximately 68 minutes, a proportional share of the official exam's 90-minute limit for its roughly 120 questions. Every question has one best answer chosen from five options (A--E). Questions are grouped beneath shared stimuli---a paraphrased primary-source excerpt, a data table, a map or timeline diagram, or a comparison chart---covering the period from Pre-Columbian societies and early European colonization through the end of Reconstruction in 1877. Coverage is weighted toward the 1790--1877 period, consistent with the official exam's emphasis, and spans political institutions, social developments, economic developments, cultural and intellectual developments, and diplomacy. All stimuli are either constructed for this practice set or explicitly paraphrased from period arguments; no passage is presented as a verbatim historical document. This independently written practice test is not an official CLEP exam form and is not endorsed by or affiliated with the College Board.
