CLEP College Algebra Practice Test 1
Answer all 60 questions in 90 minutes. Every question has one best answer chosen from five options (A--E). An online scientific (nongraphing) calculator, modeled on the TI-30XS MultiView, is available on-screen for the entire test; no formula sheet, reference card, or table of values is provided, so the core algebra formulas must be memorized in advance. Content is distributed as follows: algebraic operations (approximately 25%, including exponent rules, factoring and expanding polynomials, operations with rational expressions, absolute value, and properties of logarithms), equations and inequalities (approximately 25%, including linear, quadratic, absolute value, exponential, and logarithmic equations, quadratic inequalities, and systems of linear and nonlinear equations), functions and their properties (approximately 30%, including linear, quadratic, polynomial, rational, exponential, logarithmic, and piecewise functions, together with domain and range, composition, inverses, transformations, and their graphs), and number systems and operations (approximately 20%, including the real number system, complex numbers, factorials, and the Binomial Theorem). Read every choice before deciding, work each problem fully before comparing your result to the options, and mark time-consuming items to revisit. This independently written practice test is not an official CLEP form.
