AP World History: Modern Practice Test 1

Complete all 55 questions in 55 minutes. This is Section I, Part A of the AP World History: Modern Exam and counts for 40% of the total exam score. Questions are grouped into sets of two to four that follow a shared stimulus---a table, map, timeline diagram, political-cartoon description, or short source excerpt---drawn from across the course's nine units (c.\ 1200 to the present) and from regions across the globe, including Africa, the Americas, East Asia, South Asia, Southeast Asia, the Middle East, Europe, and Oceania. Every stimulus is either (1) data or a diagram constructed for this practice set or (2) a source excerpt explicitly labeled ``paraphrased for practice'' or ``constructed for practice''; no passage is presented as a verbatim historical document. Each question has a single best answer. There is no penalty for guessing, so answer every question. These questions are independently created and are not official College Board questions.
