AP United States History Practice Test 1
Complete all 55 questions in 55 minutes. This is Section I, Part A of the AP United States History Exam and counts for 40% of the total exam score. Questions are grouped into sets of two or three that follow a shared stimulus---a table, a timeline or map diagram, a data chart, or a short source excerpt---spanning historical developments from 1491 to the present. Every stimulus is either (1) data or a diagram constructed for this practice set or (2) a source excerpt explicitly labeled ``paraphrased for practice''; no passage is presented as a verbatim historical document. Each question has a single best answer among four choices. There is no penalty for guessing, so answer every question. These questions are independently created and are not official College Board questions.
