AP Art History Practice Test 1

This practice test contains 80 multiple-choice questions covering all ten AP Art History content areas: Global Prehistory, Ancient Mediterranean, Early Europe and Colonial Americas, Later Europe and Americas, Indigenous Americas, Africa, West and Central Asia, South/East/Southeast Asia, the Pacific, and Global Contemporary art. You have 1 hour to complete this section, which mirrors the timing and question count of Section I of the real AP Art History exam. Because no reproducible images can be included here, each scenario opens with a clearly labeled prose description of an invented or composite work of art; treat the described image exactly as you would treat a projected image on test day, and answer using visual analysis, contextual knowledge, and process-of-elimination skills. These questions are independently created and are not official AP questions. Some answer choices reference real, well-documented works of art history for comparison and contrast; the stimulus images themselves are original descriptions written for this test and are not claims about the exact appearance of any specific real artifact. Mark your answer for each item, then check your work against the Final Answers and Explanations sections at the end of this test.
